Any native to Miami knows that the place to go for a genuine, heartfelt cup of coffee is always Panther Coffee. This midtown, boho coffeehouse aligns perfectly with the artsy attitude boasted throughout the Design District of Miami. It’s no coincidence that the entrance to Wynwood Walls is located just a street over. The owners of this speciality coffee roaster, Joel and Leticia Pollock, take their coffee very seriously. This coffeehouse receives their coffee grains from small farms throughout the world (like Grupo las Cuchillas in Nicaragua) and roasts them in the shop with their own vintage roaster, so they’re able to produce the best quality coffee imaginable.

As I entered, the first thing that caught my eye were the modern paintings strung along the walls; I later learned that Panther Coffee holds a rotating series of featured art from the local Miami artists. The unique and personalized atmosphere draws a community just as unique as themselves, with everyone inside holding a quirk of their own. The workers have dyed hair or hip nose piercings, while the crowd of customers consists of poshly dressed individuals or groups of carefree young adults. It was such a vibrant community. I sampled a perfectly roasted latte. A vanilla, soy latte to be exact. It did not disappoint.

Once my drink was ready, I sat down at one of the seats with a huge, eye-level window directly in front of it. I sipped the latte and stared through the window, automatically mesmerized by the outside environment full of Wynwood’s distinct hipster characters pacing by the graffiti stained Miami walls.

I could stay there all day. I felt like I was in my own artsy, laid-back hideaway. I looked down and noticed my latte was almost done. I sighed astonishingly. Did I really drink it that fast? Oh well- time for another one.

While there are currently only three locations (I recommend going to the Wynwood one), more are currently on the way. Panther Coffee has much to look forward too in it’s future filled with perfectly roasted iced coffees, cappuccinos, and espressos.
