Fall Fashion Trends

Fall+Fashion+Trends

The leaves are not changing; it’s not getting any colder, and the boots are definitely staying in the closet for now. But you can be sure it’s fall now that fashion week has ended, and many fashionistas are reading about what to look out for this fall season. The genius of the autumn / fall 2011 trends is that, unlike every other year, designers have actually added color into their collections. I’ve picked the five most practical and fashion forward trends that everyone can expect to see soon.

Bright Pants: Whether they’re your go-to skinny or the more trendy wide flare bell bottom (the 70’s are back), the colored pants are an adorable way to punch in some color to a fall wardrobe. This look was all over the runway paired with winter’s darker colors on top. No need to stick to the standard black pants or blue jeans.

Mustard and Rust Hues: As unappealing as the names sound, these two colors are the equivalent of last year’s “everything camel colored” trend. Beware of the mustard color as it doesn’t go well with everyone’s skin tone, but if you have the right complexion, this color will make skin glow. As for the rust tones, they make a great color for coats when the time comes. But, if you’re shopping for a dress and the mustard color makes you look drab, skip the LBD, and buy yourself a dress in Jade Green. The color looks great and will be a nice contrasting color to the rest of your fall attire.

Maxiskirts and Cozy Sweaters: The per-fect transition from your summer wardrobe into fall’s, just pair a maxi skirt with one of your favorite sweaters; the chunkier the better. For those of you who love comfort, this outfit is extremely easy and comfortable.  It’s just as easy as putting on your favorite pair of leggings and t-shirt. This outfit is The best go-to outfit as soon as it starts to get chilly or if you’re just going to hang out over the weekend.

Python Prints & Menswear: The snake and python theme is everywhere, and I love ,love, love it. Whether you’ll rock it in accessories, shoes, or as a killer print for your clothes, the trend is edgy, easy to pull off, and perfect for fall. Harder to pull off is the menswear trend. There probably wasn’t one fashion week runway that didn’t incorporate it, so obviously I couldn’t leave it out. The women-tux is in and although most of us will run the other way, some will look absolutely great in it. The trick is to make sure it’s tailored right: sharp lines, sleek pants and waist hugging hemlines.  Pair this with a flirty white top to accentuate the femininity of it all. If you still think it’s not for you, try menswear shoes or your boyfriend’s blue oxford shirt as a dress, you might surprise yourself.

The Choker: Of course I wouldn’t forget autumn accessories. When I say choker, don’t even think to bring out your seventh grade black stretchy piece of cloth with a bejeweled peace sign on the front that you used to wear around your neck; we’re talking sleek and chic, preferably plain gold or silver metal chunky chokers. Celebs, like my favorite Rosie Huntington Whitely, have already been spotted following this solid jewelry trend, and if worn right, they update your outfit at any time. Still not feeling it? Try a solid cuff to amp up your outfit.
