The start of the NBA playoffs has been off to a crazy, exciting start full of surprises, highlights, and games that have come down to the very end. While all of these exciting games are going on, many awards are being announced, but players who are still in the playoffs need to keep their focus on the real prize, which is winning that championship.
To many people’s surprise, the Lakers are off to a 2-0 lead against the Rockets. Star players Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves are both out due to injury. The Lakers knew they would have to have 41-year-old world-renowned Lebron James to step it up big time and give them the boost they needed to make this a competitive series. Through the first two games, Lebron has done just that as he has posted almost triple-doubles in both games and has brought non-stop energy when he is in the game. Marcus Smart and Luke Kennard have also been able to step up big time for the Lakers and make some big-time shots. The Rockets are going to need to step it up big time because the Lakers look like they are going to keep this momentum going and keep on bringing the energy. It is almost definite that Luke will not come back this series, but Austin Reaves has the potential to maybe come back later in the series, which would be a big time for them.
The Spurs vs. Trail Blazers took a very concerning turn for Spurs fans as Victor Wembenyama went down with a hard fall and is in concussion protocol. They ended up losing game two only by a few points, but not having their big superstar hurts them dramatically, so hopefully he will be good to go for game three and pass his concussion test. The series is now tied 1-1, headed back to Portland, so having the home crowd behind them for game three is huge as they are looking to carry over the momentum in an attempt to pull off the upset.
The Thunder have been off to a dominant start in the playoffs after having a spectacular regular season as well. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been phenomenal, leading the team to dominant victories, winning both games comfortably by double digits against the Suns.
Overall, the playoffs have been off to a crazy, electric start, so it looks like these playoffs will not disappoint. If the start of the 2026 playoffs is anything like what is to come, these playoffs are going to be one to remember
