The Consumer Electronics Show (or CES) takes place annually in Las Vegas in January at the start of the new year. This 2017 showcase brought many of the now customary windows into the future of technology and life in the modern era as tech conglomerates exhibited the latest and greatest that they have to offer. From companies like LG and Panasonic to DJI and Razer, CES brings some of the biggest players in the tech industry together to give a glimpse into what will be staples of contemporary life inside of ten years. [spacer height=”20px”]

Notably, Polaroid has made a comeback as the once paramount instant printing method of photography has enchanted the nostalgia of the previous generations and the analog intrigue of millennials that have grown up in a totally digital time. Polaroid’s first newly developed camera for the 21st century consumer that utilized instant photo printing was the Snap that we covered at its outset. Now, another novel Polaroid instant camera is coming to the scene. On January 5th at CES 2017, Polaroid unveiled the Pop. For the company’s 80th anniversary, the Pop combines the greatest qualities of the old and new with a sleek design and the almost magical quality of instant pictures that develop before your eyes meeting current innovations that allow for an electronic preview of the picture before printing. [spacer height=”20px”]

All of this has been accomplished with improvements from the previous generation Snap camera through its more conventional 3″x4″ print size and 4-inch touchscreen display for navigation. This works in conjunction with wireless technology like WiFi and Bluetooth that allow for smartphone compatibility so a user can edit the captured picture on their phone and then print or simply use the Pop as a photo printer in and of itself. While pricing is currently not given by Polaroid, the Pop is said to become available to consumers in Q4 of 2017. With an impressive 20 megapixel sensor and dual LED flash, Polaroid may have a hit on its hands. We should all be looking out for these instant cameras to begin Pop-ing up everywhere. [spacer height=”20px”]
