[spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]High school is the time for students to express their individuality and find themselves.  Everyone has his or her own style and should be able to express it.  However, this can sometimes be hard with a uniform and a strict dress code. In the Pine Crest Upper School, we are all quite familiar with this predicament.

[spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]There are black and khaki shorts and skorts, as well as a variety of different colored polos and sweatshirts. Although there are quite a few options to pick from, many Pine Crest students feel limited by the uniform, so they use other means to express themselves.

“I like to use different shoes and socks [to express myself] and sometimes I wear a jacket. I express myself using bracelets, a headband, and especially my water bottle,” junior Bella Maharaj said.

As Bella mentioned, she accessorizes with her water bottle using cool and interesting stickers. Students also have stickers on their computers that express who they are through their interests.

“I express myself through my red backpack,” junior Adam Cohen said.

He is not the only one. Walking through the halls, one can see many Upper School students who accessorize with their school supplies whether it’s through putting pins on their backpacks or stickers on their notebooks. Even with a uniform, there are clearly a large variety of ways that students can express individuality and creativity. Other ways for any Upper School student to express themselves include makeup, nail polish, shoes, hairstyles, computer cases, or just a unique personality.
