Super Bowl XLVII Predictions

It’s that time of the year once again, when the entire week seems to revolve around only one day- Sunday.  The time of year when jerseys, chicken wings, cheering, nachos, setting your fantasy line up, tailgating, and touchdown dances all become relevant again.  It’s the time of year dominated by the sport that everybody seems to love- FOOTBALL.  Whether your team was 16-0 or 0-16, all teams are back to an even playing ground with the start of the season just underway, giving players and fans a sense of hope to win the Super Bowl.  Will the New York Giants repeat as Super Bowl champions?  Will Tom Brady and the New England Patriots win it all this year?  Will the Dolphins finally achieve  past mediocraty?  Or will another team claim the title as Super Bowl XLVII Champions?  The Type I Sports Staff has come together to give you their pre-season Super Bowl predictions:

Tyler Shevin: Baltimore Ravens- The window of opportunity is running short on the Ravens’ explosive defense lead by Ray Lewis, Ed Reed and Haloti Ngata.  Ultimately, with an offense lead by star running back Ray Rice, I believe the Ravens are ready to make that next leap and bring the Lombardi Trophy to Baltimore. Discipline, talent and experience will crown the Ravens as Super Bowl XLVII Champions in New Orleans this year.

Jake Wolpert: Denver Broncos– I think the Broncos will win the Super Bowl, highly in part to quarterback Peyton Manning. He brings one of his favorite targets with him from his final, healthy season in Indianapolis, Jacob Tamme. Throw Manning into a great defense that won most of their games last year, and the Broncos are Super Bowl XLVII Champions.

Jake Wasserman: Miami Dolphins- The Miami Dolphins will win the Super Bowl because of their new coach, Joe Philbin. Philbin’s offensive scheme with his former team, the Packers, led to 45 touchdowns in the passing game.  Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphin’s rookie quarterback, will get off to a slow start, but he will soon light up the scoreboard for 300 passing yards per week. Reggie Bush expects to greatly contribute as the leading rusher, and the defense is fueled by Karlos Dansby. Expect a great year from your Miami Dolphins .

Alex Meade: New York Giants- The NYSE (New York Sack Exchange) will once again lead the New York Giants to another Lombardi trophy.  With his young, proven core of receivers returning, Eli Manning will continue to succeed with a revamped running game, which will include a healthy Ahmad Bradshaw and some flash from rookie David Wilson.  Manning also now has another weapon in the recently signed tight end, Martellus Bennett, who is expected to be a monster in the “red zone.”  If their secondary can stay healthy, I think the Giants could definitely silence the critics and accomplish a repeat season.

Garrett Schwartz: San Francisco 49ers- It’s simple- offense wins games, defense wins championships.  The 49ers established themselves as legitimate contenders last year, riding the best defense in the NFL all the way to the NFC Championship before losing to the Super Bowl champions, the New York Giants.  With practically all of their key pieces returning from last year, the 49ers added many new offensive weapons, including Randy Moss, Mario Manningham, and Brandon Jacobs, to  complement their already dangerous defense.  While the 49ers will count on the foundation of their defense, quarterback Alex Smith and their new explosive offense will help crown the San Francisco 49ers as Super Bowl XLVII Champions.

The 2012-2013 NFL season has much in store, as fans around the country are eager to see how their teams will fare.  With an exciting and much anticipated year of football ahead, it will be interesting to see which teams will surpass expectations and which teams will disappoint.  In the end, only two teams will reach the coveted Super Bowl game, and only won team will have the privilege of winning over the Lombardi trophy that only so many teams have won before.  While we can try to predict who will be the Super Bowl XLVII Champions, there is only way to know for sure: watch and enjoy football.
