Wynwood Art Walk

Saturday 13, December 2014

Wynwood Art District, Miami

Has Art Basel inspired you to discover intriguing art?

Take a trip down to Miami this weekend and visit Wynwood’s monthly Art Walk. Located in the heart of Miami, the art walk occurs the second weekend of each month and features a variety of eccentric art and modern exhibits. Visit the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami to see works from the Jumex Collection, one of the world’s largest collections of contemporary Latin American art. Stop by Adamar Fine Art Gallery’s “Andy Warhol: Seen and Unseen” exhibit to enjoy contemporary silkscreened pieces by Andy Warhol. Additionally, do not forget to stop by the Sammer Gallery to see the variety of pieces they have to show. Featured artists include Gonzalo Fonseca, Francisco Matto, Manuel Pailos, and Miguel Angel Pareja, who are famous for their promotion of Constructivism and Geometric Abstraction.

If you want to experience a more unconventional side of Miami’s Art District, try taking a tour of the eccentric graffiti murals that are found throughout the Wynwood Art District. This Saturday night there will be a tour at 6 pm of the beautiful graffiti murals that are displayed on the various buildings in Wynwood.

Head down to Miami and extend your Art Basel week at Wynwood’s monthly Art Walk!

Boca Raton Museum of Art

If traveling to Miami to view artwork is inconvenient for you, try going to the Boca Raton Museum of Art located next to Mizner Park in Boca Raton. The museum features a variety of exhibits ranging from installation art to antique oil paintings. Currently, the museum is displaying A New Path: Two Installations in the Colonnade, The Pursuit of Happiness, Latin American Artists Depicting the Human Form, Theresa Bernstein: A Century in Art, and Elliott Erwitt Photographs from the Collection. My favorite exhibit currently at the museum is Theresa Bernstein: A Century in Art, which includes artworks ranging from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st century. Theresa Ferber Bernstein created a variety of works that address the major political subjects of her time, such as women’s suffrage and racial discrimination.

Visit the Boca Raton Museum of Art to view a plethora of artworks that appeal to a variety of tastes.
