Here is what Jamie had to say about her artwork when she sat down with Type One this week.
T1: When did you begin to draw and paint?
Jamie: I began actually drawing and painting in seventh grade.
T1: Are you taking any art classes this year? If so, what are you most looking forward to in this class?
Jamie: I am taking AP Studio Art this year. The class takes a ton of thought and work, but I’m looking forward to seeing all the finished pieces by my classmates and myself and also exploring many different mediums.
T1: Are you currently working on anything?
Jamie: I am currently working on a watercolor piece where the idea is to show humans morph into nature.
T1: Out of all the photos you submitted which is your favorite?
Jamie: My favorite one of these photos is the painting of the little girl in the blue bonnet. This was the most difficult piece that I did last year, but I was really happy with the result.
T1: What is your biggest motivation for making art?
Jamie: I mainly make art just because it’s something that I have always enjoyed doing.
T1: Do you have any favorite artists that you draw inspiration from?
Jamie: The loose style of Monet inspires me for some of my paintings.
