Dear Readers,
We are extremely excited to publish our first issue of Type One for the 2014-2015 school year. Before we can assume our roles as the new leaders of the newspaper, we want to tell you the tale of how we came to be.
It was a long three years, filled with early morning meetings, tireless dedication to making deadlines, always attending FSPA conferences (like Mrs. J told us to), and the persistent effort to cite our photos correctly.
We hope you enjoy this entertaining tale of our non-diabetic, Type One Triumvirate.
Prologue: The Beginning
It was a dark and stormy morning in Mrs. Jaramillo’s room when the new Triumvirate was formed.
Izzy succeeded the highly-productive Managing Editor Alexander (“The Great”) Meade, while Ruchika and Alexis succeeded Carter (“the President of every club at PC ever”) Helschien, and Garrett (“I’m always censored”) Schwartz.
Mrs. J was getting her oatmeal as per usual, and the new Triumvirate was busy discussing plans for the next year’s newspaper, including a newly-revamped website, and a collaboration with the school’s highly-acclaimed broadcasting program, PCTV.
After strenuously searching through hundreds of WordPress themes for 1,001 Arabian Nights, they stumbled upon their favorite, Quadrum, which was really more of a conundrum. Drowning in piles and piles of handouts, they searched for the light at the end of this ominous tunnel of Word Documents.
As the new school year started, Izzy was busy collaborating with Carson, writing a new violin cover to beat out last year’s “toxic” Playing for Change performance, Alexis was busy launching her music career, establishing her own official website, and Ruchika got a too-early head start on college applications, to the dismay of her peers. But in the end, the trio all had time to dedicate to the renaissance of Type One.
As their story unfolds, they prepare themselves for the arduous road ahead and the struggles that accompany the responsibilities of the Triumvirate. On the quest for the elusive record six Teenlink awards and the recognition of being the official student newspaper of Pine Crest (not a Diabetic magazine), they will face various obstacles. Among the ranks of Voldemort, Ursula, and the Wicked Witch are Señor Itis and C.E. Nsorship, and these two villains will stop at nothing to see the demise of the newspaper. Ruchika, Alexis, and Izzy will not let the newspaper go down without a fight.
Let the journey begin.
Your Editors,
Ruchika Sharma, Izzy Ercan, and Alexis Kesselman
