As most of you know, the Sadie Hawkins/FebFest dance was this past Saturday at school. Prior to the event, Pine Crest was full of courageous girls developing creative ways to ask their dates to the dance.
The theme was American with costumes ranging from LA surfers to Alaskan Eskimos or just patriotic red, white, and blue attire. One of the most exciting parts prior to the dance every year is the bold way in which some of our students ask their dates to the dance. This year was no exception.
As many of you might have noticed, the other week junior Brittany Paris asked Ben Frantz to the dance with a big, colorful sign that was hung on the staircase of the upper school building. Paris played off of the idea that her last name is the capital of France (aka Ben’s last name). She cleverly wrote on her sign, “Frantz, a country without a capital is like a dance without a date, Sadie?” Of course, Frantz said yes to Paris!
A creative poster is not the only unique way of asking a date to this dance; PC students have stepped up to the challenge and have asked in even bigger and crazier ways. For example, junior Nikki Marsh recruited six PC guys to spell out “SADIE?” on their stomachs in order to ask her date. Another junior wrote “I DONUT want to go with anyone else. SADIE?” on a box of donuts that she presented to her date.
Senior Kimmy Ginsburg decided to ask Alex Perez to the dance. Ten of Kimmy’s friends helped her with this plan by arriving at school at 7:30 am and reporting to the baseball diamond wearing bikinis on one of the coldest days that Florida has seen in quite a while! At the baseball field, Perez was happily greeted by Kimmy and her friends, along with baseball- decorated cookies.
These are just a few of the many imaginative ways in which girls asked guys to the dance. Many girls baked for their dates writing “SADIE?” on cookies, cakes, brownies, or just about any edible treat. One girl even bought a live fish for her date saying that he was the only fish in the sea for her. We cannot wait to see what prom and the dances next year will have in store for the Pine Crest community.
