Every year, there’s that designated day where seniors skip school and take the entire day off. Is this legal? Can seniors even do this? The answer is yes. It’s a day mediated by the school, where permission is given to skip from the Upper School Office. The perception is that since it’s the last year of high school for seniors this day is justified as a nice reward for seniors for their four years of hard work.
“It’s something to look forward to. When I’m a senior, I’ll be loving it,” said Remi Shea. However, there have been some controversial opinions among the underclassmen about whether this day is really deserved.
“It’s not even fair! They’re already into college, they don’t care about work. It should be junior skip day, that’s who’s working!” said Noah Baker.
Many underclassmen agree with this sentiment that senior skip day is a luxury that the seniors just don’t deserve. They are already accepted into college, and now (arguably) don’t have as much work to do.
“They’re always in the library making a bunch of noise because they have no work to do. Juniors have work. Juniors need that day” said Kaely Malik.
However, others could still argue that senior skip day is a designated and deserved gift to the seniors, seeing that they went through their gruesome junior year.
“Senior skip-day is something to look forward to. They have it now, and we’ll have it as seniors, so why be jealous of them? We’ll be happy when we’re them,” said Ari Srour.
So to recap, some underclassmen believe senior skip day is undeserved, while others think that senior skip day is a good thing for seniors to have as their parting gift from high school. Personally, I don’t mind the day at all. Regardless of the opinion of underclassmen, I think senior skip day is that one day during the year all seniors are happy to have around.
