With the school year beginning to wind down, the Class of 2013, for the first time in their high school career, has to look forward to AP exam week. AP exams will signify the end of four years of work with the last exams the senior class will ever take as a Pine Crest student. But the first week of May is still some time away so for now you are able to find members of the class of 2013 diligently plodding along with their studies.
Right?
As a proud bearer of the title of Second Semester Senior, at times I have personally tried to see if I can finally tip the balance back to relaxing instead of school. They say you can never really make up sleep, but I figure I might as well try to. Most days, as soon as I get home, I drop my bag on my desk and do not touch it again until next morning when I leave for school extra early to make sure I’m on time for first period without having to rush in the garage and consequently feel Mr. Joe Markham’s wrath.
I think it’s safe to say that I have a pretty bad case of Senioritis, considering I am writing this at roughly 11:00 PM the night before this article is due, but I am not the sole sufferer of this pandemic. But this begs the question of why does a significant portion of the senior class suffer from Senioritis when various teachers threaten the possibility of failure? In multiple classes, I have been told that seniors who do not put in the same amount of work they did first semester are doomed to failure and being rescinded from college. The urban legend lives on…
In a nod to Mrs. Santarelli and the illustrious “Dr.” Schwartz, I believe Senioritis acts as a lysogenic virus that lays dormant until high-schoolers reach this final stage in the second semester. See? I pay attention in class. Sometimes.
Here’s hoping that will be enough for the rest of the year.
