Valentine’s Day
While Valentine’s Day has come and gone, it’s still a holiday that’s been stumping couples for centuries. What did you do for your Valentine this Valentine’s Day? Was your gift a smashing success, or could you have used some help? Valentine’s Day is finally demystified by your Type One staff with some suggestions for next year.
Valentine’s Day is a holiday that, for some, is both the most romantic and the one that requires the most planning. Did you give or receive yet another pair of heart-patterned boxers? Never fear, Type One is here with some classic and some creative ways to say, “I love you,” next year.
For those of you making the decision between classic standbys and something a little more unique, here are a few of the most familiar Valentine’s Day gifts, and some tips on how to put a creative spin on them.
The Valentine’s Day Card
A card is a great way to send a message, but Hallmark will never know your loved ones as well as you do. Next Valentine’s Day, why not try making some homemade cards? Old school? Maybe a little, but doilies, construction paper, glue, and an inside joke or two are all that you’ll need.
Flowers
Could there be anything more synonymous with Valentine’s Day than a bouquet of red roses? It’s definitely a go-to gift for many, but if you’re looking to really wow that special someone, try going with something a little more personal. Are their favorite flowers tulips, or maybe daisies? Go the extra mile and pick some up from your local grocery. Find a vase or a mason jar that you aren’t using, then snip the flowers to fit (under water, to avoid air bubbles that will make them wilt) and viola!
Chocolates and Sweets
A box of chocolates is another gift that’s sure to win smiles, but how about making your own sweets next year? See this issue’s recipe for Secret Cookies – a recipe so good, that it’s been kept a secret for nearly 30 years. And, they’re perfect for any occasion, not just Valentine’s Day.
