New Year’s Resolutions
With the New Year and the new semester upon us, students are both optimistic and ready for a fresh start.
After all, this year will be the one. The year that you keep your resolutions for more than two or three weeks, right? So far I have heard all sorts of resolutions ranging from spending less time with Mary Ellen, making purchases at the student store, to keeping up your binder in Señora Schoneck’s Spanish class. In fact for a lot of juniors, new resolutions to study harder for the SAT and ACT are suddenly popping up now that the dreaded college searching process has started.
Whether or not you manage to keep to your resolutions is up to you, but it is always fun to make them. Here
are a few examples from passing upper-classmen: “My Resolution this year is to keep up with projects early and not wait until the last minute to get started.” Another was: “This year I resolved to work out at least four times a week in order to get in shape for next year’s football season.” Lastly, one I could really relate to was: “I resolve to stop driving my dad insane with the student store bill and only get one muffin a day.” Be it athletics, academics, or family-related, no matter what your resolution is for this year, here’s to a 2012 that turns out to be everything you hoped for.
