On Tuesday, December 13th, the Upper School orchestra, chorus, and band came together to perform a
memorable holiday show for the high school.

The first to perform was the Upper School orchestra, starting the concert with a performance of “Corelli
Christmas Concerto.” This holiday classic provided each senior with a solo that highlighted the unique talents of this year’s senior class. Following the merry concerto was an exciting rendition of Mozart’s “Symphony 25” and “Jazz Pizzicato.” Finally, the orchestra wrapped up their segment of the concert by performing a jolly “Festival of Lights” with the middle school. When asked what she thought of the concert, orchestra-member Brianna Yaffe said, “I thought our hard work and months of practice really paid off. Both orchestras sounded wonderful, and it was great to play with the middle school.”

After the orchestra’s wonderful holiday performance, the Upper School band and chorus came on the stage to perform some holiday classics of their own. The concert didn’t lag for a moment as the band continued the concert with exciting holiday-themed pieces followed by the chorus performing various holiday-themed songs such as “Joy in the Morning,” “Hiney Ma Tov,” and, “Avinu Malkeinu.” Finally, the Upper School chorus ended the concert with a peaceful message conveyed through the songs “Let There Be Peace on Earth” and “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.”

The 2011 Upper School Holiday Concert was a fantastic success. Not only were the performances enjoyed by the audience, but they were also enjoyed by the players themselves. Chorus member Allison Belette explained, “I thought that the concert was a wonderful experience and of course tons of fun. Mr. Testa did a fantastic job preparing the High School Chorus and PC Singers for the Holiday Concert. It was great to be able to perform some of our favorite holiday tunes for our teachers, family, and friends to welcome the holiday season. I hope everyone enjoyed it just as much as I did!” Not only did the concert set the bar higher for the talented performers in the orchestra, band, and chorus, but this will undoubtedly be remembered as a concert performance that will be hard to top.
