Versace and H&M Collaboration

Some say that the significance of a pop cultural event can be judged by the length of line anticipating it, and nowadays, by how fast their website crashes. If the recent collaboration between designer labels and household name stores are any indication, making the once unattainable and luxurious accessible is the way to go. Following in Missoni for Target’s footsteps, the luxe fashion house Versace has launched a line for H&M. The line was entirely inspired by pieces from the archive, modeling the real deal. The line was set to release November 19th at 8AM, but the time and date proved to have no boundaries for the avid shoppers. The first person in the line staked their spot at 4:30pm on Wednesday, the day before the opening. The hype was unbelievable. The New York launch party and fashion show brought out A list celebrities such as Blake Lively, Nicki Minaj, and, of course, Donatella Versace herself. Prince took the stage for a live performance and riled the crowd up. Those who hoped to avoid the line by shopping online were probably very disappointed as the website continuously crashed throughout the day. The nearest H&M store to us is in West Palm Beach.  It’s a little far, but for the bargain-seeking yet chic shoppers, worth the drive. Although most of the collection is sold out by now, make sure to look out for more designer and household name collaborations in the future! Personally, I suggest you get up early and get to the store because as with many pop cultural moments, it’s a “you had to be there” experience.
