On October 11th, five eclectic bands will be traveling to Grand Central, Miami to perform their music live for the city. OLA! Music Fest will feature Colombia’s Meridian Brothers, Peru’s Dengue Dengue Dengue!, Puerto Rico’s Chinchilos del Caribe, and Miami’s Soulful Groovesters, Elastic Bond, and Mr. Pauer. These Latin American and Caribbean musicians are internationally known for their combination of electropico, funk, dancehall, hip-hop, and cumbia sounds with Latin music to create an array of psychedelic songs, including Salsa Caliente and Le Escopeta by the Meridian Brothers. This is the first year OLA! will be hosted, and you can be sure that it’ll be wild! So if you don’t have plans Friday night, go to OLA! and party to the beats of Latino artists, the sound of hip-hop music, and the roar of the crowd.
General admission: $25

On a side-note, if you prefer something a bit more toned down and laid back, the University of Miami will be hosting a segment of The Festival of Miami, an annual music festival featuring jazz players and blues rock bands, this weekend. Artists such as Gloria Estafan and Joan Osborne will be performing their melodic rhythms at the Gusman Concert Hall to their dedicated fans and interested students.
