It’s finally that time of year again – time for Pine Crest musicians to shine. In a series of recent performances, our musicians got the chance to show off their extraordinary talents. In this year’s annual Solo and Ensemble performance, about 50 musicians from the PC band and orchestra received superior ratings; the highest level of recognition from the judges. A few students who played more than one piece received multiple superiors. In early April, the participants will bring their talent to the State level Solo and Ensemble competition.
Also this week, the Pine Crest orchestra competed at the district MPA, receiving a superior for yet another consecutive year. However, this time they received a superior rating from every judge, making the honor even more remarkable. One of the players said afterward, “I can’t believe we’ve gotten a straight superior and done such a good job. This is just amazing!”
While the PC Orchestra is celebrating their success, PC Symphonic Winds is still hard at work, practicing everyday for the upcoming MPA on March 14th. During the preparation process, various music teachers have been invited to critique the band during rehearsals and have provided valuable feedback. The PC Symphonic Winds has high hopes for this year and for their upcoming performance.
