T1: Hey Hartneys! We’re so excited to have you as our first senior spotlight!
Chelsea: We’re so excited to be interviewed!!
Ryan: Thanks for having us!
T1: So, just to get to know you guys a little better, we have a list of questions- things people have been wondering about not just one, but two seniors, and twins at that. So, first off: what’s your favorite part about having a twin?
Ryan: The telepathy
Chelsea: Definitely the telepathy for sure
T1: Oooh wow, seems pretty legit. How do you guys utilize the power?
Must be why you do so well in French..
Ryan: We use it for mostly for good, and occasionally for evil.
Chelsea: But how it exactly works is only something a twin would get. 😉
Ryan: We also enjoy fooling our teachers by switching classes since we look exactly alike.
T1: Hahaha. I’m sure that gets them every time! Sounds awesome, but what would you say is the worst part about having a twin? Any downsides to being born at the same time?
Ryan: I feel that most twins would say the comparisons are the worst part. People often assume that we have the same interests or hobbies, but we’re actually very different people. It definitely becomes annoying after a while when people ask “Who has better grades?” and things like that.
T1: Sure, makes sense! Do your parents every group you as one child, or better yet, mix up your names?
Chelsea: We were definitely lumped as children – I have photos playing on a boys’ little league baseball team to prove it! I was a tomboy-ish child though; they always supported our individual interests. Our parents never mix up our names. If anything, I’m accidentally called the dog’s name. But no, that never really happens.
T1: Sounds good! That being said, any best joint birthday parties you guys can remember?
Chelsea: I would probably have to say either the baby animal petting zoo parties or the jeopardy-themed party.
Ryan: Though we had some awesome bowling and ice skating parties, too
Chelsea: We had a wild karaoke bash for one birthday, too! I distinctly remember some members of the senior class singing Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out.”
T1: Hahaha, you definitely have some great memories. Any worst fights you can remember? Or the most common thing you argue over?
Chelsea: Honestly, we never really fight at all! I can’t recall any major fights or anything. We’re so lucky that we get along so well.
T1: That’s really good- you guys are like best friends! And with that, we were wondering how well you guys know each other. So Ryan, do you know Chelsea’s favorite artist?
Ryan: Monet?
Chelsea: Monet’s definitely up on the list! Spot on with the impressionism guess, twin!
T1: And Chelsea- do you know what Ryan’s favorite book is?
Chelsea: Hmmmm, Candide by Voltaire?
Ryan: I liked Candide a lot, but my favorite book I’ve ever read would probably have to be Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
T1: Chelsea, you seem to be slacking a bit.
Ryan: He reads so much!! The list I had to choose from is infinite.
T1: Acceptable excuse, no worries. So, you guys are not just twins, but also seniors this year!!
Ryan: Yeah! It’s good to be a senior.
T1: What are your favorite parts this year?
Ryan: Winterfest and Sadie Hawkins were a lot of fun
Chelsea: Everything!! There’s a lot of work, and the college essay process isn’t the most fun thing in the world, but senior year boasts so many exciting events! I’ve been trying to make the most out of the whole year.
Ryan: No, college applications were horrible.
T1: Haha Ryan, I’m sure Chelsea went through the same struggle. But, is she much more of an optimist than you, or are you just as peppy?
Ryan: I think I’m an optimist, too; we just have different ways of showing it. I tend to be more laid back and quieter.
T1: Sure, seems like it in French AP. Is that your only class together this year?
Chelsea: We have Stat together, too. We take a lot of the same courses, but the class periods don’t overlap.
T1: That must really help with homework- you have automatic study partners!
Ryan: You would think so, but we really don’t take advantage of it enough. We tend to just lock ourselves in our rooms and do our work by ourselves.
Chelsea: Our doors don’t have locks. And, we’re actually about to do our French grammar handout together, lol.
T1: So, apart from studying, do you guys put aside time to spend together?
Chelsea: We have a lot of the same friends, so we do hang out a lot, but we never really plan specific time to.
Ryan: And, we both spend so much time during the week at school that we’re together a lot anyway.
T1: What about with college coming up, it’ll be your first time really apart.
Ryan: Yes, it will
T1: Any plans to go to the same college, or are you resigned to being separated from your twin?
Ryan: We would only end up at the same school if we coincidentally happened to both get into/choose the same place, but we did apply to a number of the same schools, so it is a possibility.
T1: Do you guys have a preference either way?
Chelsea: Not necessarily; we’ll choose the school that’s best for us individually and then see if it happens to be the same school.
T1: Do you think it’ll feel like your other half is missing, or will telepathy keep you well-connected?
Ryan: With technology at the point it has gotten to these days, I think it will be a lot easier to stay in contact and maintain a sense of normalcy at college.
Chelsea: We’ll be fine – we typically spend our summers doing different things, so we’ve been apart before. I agree with what Ryan said.
T1: That’s good, you guys seem ready to face anything!
Any other special twin or senior fun facts you’d like to spotlight?
Chelsea: I’M OLDER!!!
Ryan: Yeah, but I’m taller. And wiser.
Chelsea: Touche. Wisdom comes with age.
T1: But remember, age before beauty
Chelsea: Hahahahahha.
Ryan: haha.
T1: So, I guess that about sums it up! Thank you guys so much for being our senior spotlight!
