A horror film is presented on the television screen.

Since spooky season has officially begun, here are some movies to put you in the eerie mood for this spooktacular time of year. So grab your popcorn, candy, and blankets, and let the binge-watching begin.

For those who are not a fan of horror, here are some less frightening Halloween movies.

  1. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown is a fantastic way to kick off Halloween. While this movie isn’t on Netflix, you can watch it on ABC on October 22 and 27 at 7:00 PM EST.
  2. Coraline is another great option. This dark and creepy animated movie is sure to lure friends to the television screen. Just make sure not to follow the mice that may attract you to a hole in the wall. This iconic movie is available on Netflix.

Though it isn’t Halloween without enjoying a few horror movies. Many movie lovers argue that this year’s horror options (in theatres) don’t quite suffice, so here are some recommendations on what to watch at home.

  1. The Shining is a staple in a horror movie marathon. This 80s classic film stuns viewers with its “here comes Johnny” charms.
  2. The Conjuring is another horror movie sure to leave you on the edge of your seat. If you enjoy jump scares, this is the one for you. The Conjuring is available on Netflix.

For viewers who prefer to watch television over movies, here are some must-watch shows.

  1. American Horror Story, a program with a different spooky story in each season. There are currently six seasons available of this popular series on Netflix.
  2. Season 2 of Stranger Things. Even though this isn’t the most recent season, the second season of Stranger Things takes place during spooky season, and is the most fitting for this time of year.

So, as the countdown to Halloween begins, get ready for endless hours of horror-themed entertainment on the television screen.
