Wildcats in the House!
On Friday, November 9th at 7 pm and Saturday, November 10th at 2 pm, Pine Crest Upper School students will be performing High School Musical. The famous movie trilogy produced by Disney channel became its most successfully produced series after its debut in 2005. That year, it reached an all-time high of 7.7 million viewers. High School Musical has had an incredible impact on American culture which is apparent through the many fond memories students have of the series.
Junior Delaney Dardet said, “High School Musical was a staple of my childhood. I loved all the movies and am so excited that Pine Crest is performing it as the musical!”
The cast is excited to recreate the fan favorite and play characters everyone knows and loves. Senior Cayleigh Pine, who plays the diva and school queen Sharpay Evans, states that she initially “…wasn’t a fan of Sharpay because of her mean attitude.”
However, after finishing the trilogy, Cayleigh said that her attitude towards the character changed. She said, “I immediately fell in love with Sharpay’s character. So I think loving the character I play so much helps give me the energy and drive for my performance. Rehearsing for the show has been incredibly fun because I get to hang out with my friends every day and do what I love: acting!”
During the preview of the show, the cast members showcased amazing talent and a stunning performance. However, despite it looking effortless on stage, there were lots of rehearsals that went on to get the cast ready for the big show.
Cayleigh says, “It’s been a bit stressful because everyone is losing their voices, including me!”
The singers have been using their voices nonstop over the past few weeks, as they perfected the show. Even though it has been tiring, they will be able to show off their hard work this weekend at the two shows. Make sure to come out to Stacy Auditorium and support your fellow Panthers as they become Wildcats for the weekend!
