Last year, the Pine Crest Men’s Volleyball Team was very successful, winning a major tournament and making it all the way to the District Semi-Finals. Naturally, high expectations and a buzz of excitement surround this upcoming season. Young volleyball prodigy, Zach Kahan, is here to discuss his goals and expectations for the team this year.
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
Zach: Well, we lost thirteen seniors and only have three returning players, so we are in a rebuilding year. Right now, the goal is just to keep improving every day. We may not be a very experienced team, but we are confident that we can be successful as the season goes on.
In your opinion, what’s the best characteristic of the team?
Zach: Everyone on the team is at practice every day, both to have fun and to improve. The best part about the team is the hard-working attitude shared by all the players.
There seems to be more interest in the Men’s Volleyball program this year than in previous years. Why do you think that is?
Zach: First off, it seemed like we had more people try-out this season then in previous ones. I think people are starting to realize that volleyball can be a very fun sport to play, especially if someone wants to try something different.
I hear that you are petitioning for a beach volleyball team at the school as well. Is that true?
Zach: No, that is actually not true. Although, it would be pretty awesome. I’d get a chance to show off the beach body.
Do you have any final words about the upcoming season?
Zach: I think we have a great season ahead of us, and I wish that more people would come out to the games. We would love to get a bigger audience on a consistent basis.
Thank you Zach and I wish you well on the upcoming season.
The team begins their season on March 5th at South Plantation High School. Their first home game is on March 14th against Western High School in the Stacy Gym. Come on out and support the Panther’s Men’s Volleyball Team!
