Tis the season for Girl Scout Cookies and students at the Pine are pretty excited. While it is that time of year again, let us remember the first Girl Scout troop was founded back in 1912. Ever since then, the Girl Scouts have continued to shape strong, wise, independent girls who are confident to attack any task or obstacle in their way. This is represented in the official Girl Scout mission, which reads, “Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.”[spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
Girl Scouts began selling their iconic cookies in 1917 to raise the necessary funds that are needed to carry out their normal functions. While these cookies are very tasty, they are more than just a flavorful dessert. They help give these girls amazing lifelong experiences that will help shape them into productive members of society.[spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
However, If purchasing these cookies for the betterment of the Girl Scouts isn’t enough for you, you can definitely still purchase a box or two solely for their delicious taste. To further explore this idea, I conducted a school wide poll searching for the absolute best Girl Scout cookie.[spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
After a week of voting, Pine Crest students ultimately chose Thin Mints as the most favored cookie. 156 out of the 275 students who were surveyed chose this flavor of cookie. With 57 votes, Samoas (Carmel deLites) was a far second. Rounding off the leader board, Tagalongs (Peanut Butter Patties) received 35 votes placing them in third place. Girl Scout S’mores, Trefoils (Shortbread), and Savannah Smiles all got between 5-10 votes. Lemonades, Thanks-A-Lots, Toffee-Tactics, and Trios all got 2-0 votes: clearly not the student’s favorites.[spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
These statistics display students’ preferences quite clearly. Whether you love every cookie, or cant stand to bear the taste of just one, the Girl Scouts mission will remain, to help mold the amazing women of tomorrow. [spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
