In the early morning hours of November 3rd, 2016, the Chicago Cubs managed a momentous out to end the team’s century long World Series drought. They had Chicago fans all but convinced that their World Series’ dreams were coming to an end; however, after three more long, hard fought games, Chicago’s dreams became a reality. [spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
Chicago fans around the world jumped for joy after watching, hearing, or even just standing outside of Wrigley Field during the Cubs’ 8-7 World Series finale. For many of them, this was the first time the Cubs had even made it to a World Series. [spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
To put this drought into perspective, the last time the Cubs made it into the World Series was 1945, just after the ending of World War II. The last time the Cubs actually won the World Series, it was 1908 and Teddy Roosevelt was President of the United States. Generations of people and players passed without ever seeing their Cubbies win it all. [spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
To celebrate this moment in sports history, an estimated five million Chicagoans convened on Friday morning to celebrate the Cubs’ victory, making the parade largest human gathering in United States history and the seventh largest in the history of the entire world. The Chicago River was dyed blue and millions of people celebrated in the streets. To many, this was a truly once in a lifetime event. However, there’s nothing stopping the Cubs from hopefully taking home another World Series title next year.[spacer height=”10px” id=”2″]
