The fall sports season has come to an end, and PC cross country finished the year with a great record. Not only did both the boys’ and girls’ teams win Districts, but the girls also won Regionals, with the guys coming in as runners-up. For the final meet of the season the team traveled to Tallahassee to compete in States. Following in the pattern of success of this season, the girls’ team came in second place in the 2A division at the state championships, for the first time in school history. The boys’ team also made it to States, placing tenth overall in the 2A division. Senior runner Hannah Montague says, “It was so great to medal at States in my last year of cross country at PC!” Plus, this was only Coach Baur’s second season leading the team. The girls team was powered by new freshman phenom, Julia Montgomery, who was just crowned the 2A State Champion. In addition to Julia, the girls were under the strong leadership of seniors Ella Wurth, Savanna Gornisiewcz, Hannah Montague, and Arianna Garvin. Plenty of contributions were made from many other underclassmen including a couple of middle schoolers. The guys team was also anchored by the new addition of junior John Decker, as well as returning members from last year such as Matt Hernandez and Troy Gonzalez. The guys team has a positive outlook with a strong core of underclassmen which includes freshmen Ryan Welch. Overall both teams had amazing seasons due to the hard work and training that made this year a success. Congrats PCXC!
