This years Girls’ Varsity Soccer team is off to a hot start. Having a very young team, the Freshmen have had big roles so far this season, which is expected to be full of success. The team has grown significantly since their first few days together, mostly because many of the girls did not know each other very well coming into the soccer season.  After only a few weeks, the girls quickly came together.  So far, the squad is certainly headed in the right direction, as it has yet to lose a game.  As captain Jen DeFaria said, “Not everyone knew each other at first, but we quickly became a team and lost all the clicks.”  A few weekends ago, the team took a trip to The Florida Keys, where it played against Ransom Everglades, winning with a score of 3-1, and Marathon High School, tying with a score of 2-2.  On this trip, the girls had the opportunity to bond even more.  When Senior Mari Riquezes was asked what she thought about the trip, she said, “We danced a lot, and we bonded as a team.  So, overall this trip helped us to become not only better teammates but also better friends.”

The soccer team has a bright future for the next four years since most of the team’s “stars” are Freshmen.  Autumn Clark, Isabelle Turner, Jordyn Elliott and Sophia Danielsen are only a glimpse of the young talent on the team.  Also rocking the field are Juniors Christina Sofianos, Jennifer DeFaria, and Julia Moore.  Senior captains Amanda Miller and Jasmine Docal are also very talented.  Two of the girls have already planned to continue their athletic careers at the college level.  Julia Moore has committed to play soccer at the University of Maryland after she graduates, and Jasmine Docal has committed to play lacrosse at Northwestern University next year.

Come on out to the fields to see this extremely talented team play!
