Hope for HOCO and Extravaganzas to Come
The battle is over. Pine Crest has now experienced Homecoming 2012. Many lost, but many won.
While seniors, juniors, and freshmen ended up falling to the sophomores in the battle for the spirit stick, this homecoming had some of the the most spirited grades in PC history.
Many expected that this years homecoming would top last year’s Harry Potter extravaganza, but unfortunately students were not impressed. First off, the week was cut in half due to PSAT’s and as a result many teachers had to pack assignments and tests into the three days after homecoming week before progress reports went out. More importantly, however, homecoming didn’t have a theme this year, which led to a lack of excitement throughout the homecoming week.
Even with all the negative aspects, we have to realize who we’re dealing with here. Alyssa Leighton (legend, super star, and StuCo President) has promised to make up for all of this with the revival of a long-lost Pine Crest tradition-the beloved Winter Carnival. This carnival would come after exams (probably in January or February) and could make up for all possible sore feelings about homecoming this year. Knowing Alyssa’s insane ability to put together awesome events, I know it is going to be one of the highlights of the busy 2012-2013 year.
