After all the hype leading up to Saturday, including the dress-down days, the intergrade competitions, and the football game, homecoming week 2015 ended with the school dance, which turned out to be a night to remember. Starting at 6:00 in the evening, Pine Crest students began arriving at Stacy Gym wearing their prettiest dresses and sharpest outfits, some having already started the night at friends’ houses taking photos and preparing for the dance. Half an hour later, everyone was signed in and ready to have a great night.
The first things people noticed when they walked into the gym were the colorful lights moving across the room and the light-up dance floor. The gym was also decorated with Halloween decorations such as cobwebs, skeleton napkins, and cauldrons filled with candy on the tables. Towards the beginning of the dance, most people caught up with their friends and took pictures, but as the night went on, many moved to the dance floor and partied to hits like “Hotline Bling,” “679,” and “Trap Queen.” The food and drink options available were very convenient, allowing students to take breaks in between dancing to have a drink and a snack. The vibes throughout the night were contagiously positive and fun, causing students of all grade levels to let loose and dance with their friends. Pine Crest freshman Julia Karten remarks, “Homecoming was a lot of fun because it allowed us to have fun with our classmates and hang out with different people from our grade that we haven’t previously spoken to.”
By the end of the dance, students left the gym sweaty with aching feet, messy hair, and racing hearts, but more than satisfied with how the night played out. Although most of the student body can look forward to next year’s homecoming, this year’s dance was the last for the seniors. Nevertheless, they were definitely pleased with how their last homecoming dance turned out. Pine Crest senior Alvaro Torrejon affirms, “After attending three homecomings at Pine Crest School, I realized that there is no comparison to this year’s homecoming dance. From the DJ to the food, the welcoming and comforting atmosphere allowed everyone, including myself, to have a great time dancing, eating, and celebrating our school’s spirit.” All in all, this year’s homecoming dance definitely proved to be a night to remember, regardless of whether it was a freshman’s first homecoming or a senior’s last.
