The New Dress Code: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

Is your skort too short? Are your shorts too tight? Have you been going up to the Spanish wing through the back door? Have you been avoiding walking by the office? This year’s dress code policy has made several changes, but are students adapting and obeying them?
Most teachers are trying their hardest to crack down on dress code violations by telling students to unroll their shorts or simply by making them get alternatives at the Panther Closet. However, it seems like only freshmen are following these rules. Upperclassmen already have a closet full of old uniforms that still fit, so driving all the way to Jonathan Reed to get new skorts or shorts that go down to the knees is inconvenience enough to risk the walk through the language hall. A student, when asked to comment on the crackdown said: “It had to be done because the skirts were getting ridiculously short, but we don’t need to look like nuns.” She went on to explain that the problem with the shorts and skorts was that now, since the panther logo is on the bottom of the skort, so they can’t be hemmed.  The skorts are down to the knees, not down to the mid-thigh like  administration said could they could be, so there’s no compromise.

We’ve only been in school for a month and a half, so let’s hope that through the remainder of the year, the administration and students can collaborate on an agreement to make uniforms an acceptable length.
