Chihuly at Fairchild
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Miami, Florida
Daily until May 31, 2015
7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
Since 2003, the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami, Florida has featured a variety of glass artworks to enhance the aesthetic appeal of its beautiful and historic gardens. This year, the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden will continue its partnership with Dale Chihuly, a world-renowned glass artist known for his innovative artistic glass pieces made in the 1970s and ’80s. The gardens will feature a variety of artwork by Dale Chihuly, ranging from neon light fixtures, floating glass pieces, and artwork hanging from trees. All of Chihuly’s glass sculptures incorporate a variety of conceptual shapes and colors into the beautiful Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens that not only blend with the landscape but also transform it into a magical visual playground.
Last weekend when I visited Chihuly’s amazing exhibit, I was particularly awestruck by his incorporation of colors into the environment and the way he included natural aspects into the designs and silhouettes of the sculptures. Colorful drops of glass glided along the water in the gardens, while flower-like sculptures hung from the incredible South Florida trees. The experience was not only breathtaking but also inspirational to me as an artist.
However, this breathtaking experience is not free. High school students under the age of 17 must pay $12, while seniors who have already turned 18 must pay $25 to enter.
Additionally, you can discover an incredible world of wonder at the botanic garden every Thursday and Sunday night. On Fairchild’s Chihuly nights, the garden is open afterhours to display a world of colorful glass sculptures and neon lights to curious visitors.
This weekend, take a trip down to Miami and have a visual journey through all 83 acres of the beautiful Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. You can enter a world of wonder, view beautiful artwork, and be inspired.
