The 72^nd Annual Golden Globes were broadcasted live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday, January 11^th at 8:00 PM. The three hour event awards actors, producers, screenplays, soundtracks and more people who were involved in the production of the best television series and movies in the past year. The comedy duo, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler from NBC’s 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation, co-hosted the event for their third and final year hosting. From goofing on the scandal involving North Korea and The Interview, to picking on the stars in the auditorium, Fey and Poehler continued to keep the crowd and viewers at home laughing throughout their monologue. While some were eager to hear who would be taking home the golden trophies, others were still gushing about who rocked the red carpet and who would be regretting their outfits the next day.

Every year, all award nominees and presenters are selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Going into the night, there were many movies who had the odds in their favor for taking home their own Golden Globe. Birdman, staring Michael Keaton, led the way with seven nominations, including Best Motion Picture, but ended with two globes. The Imitation Game, a World War II movie inspired by Alan Turing’s The Enigma followed closely behind with five nominations entering the night, but left the hotel with a score of 0 for 5 for the crew. Orange is the New Black was a netflix series that boomed throughout 2014, but with three nominations, the hit show left many people curious after they received no awards. The most prestigious awards of the night were the Best Drama Motion Picture and Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture Golden Globes, among others. Here are just some of the many winners:

• Best Drama Motion Picture Globe– Boyhood 
• Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture Globe– The Grand Budapest Hotel
• Birdman, The Theory of Everything, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and Leviathan received Golden Globes in other categories.
• Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture- Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything
• Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture- Julianne Moore for Still Alice
• Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy- Michael Keaton for Birdman
• Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy- Amy Adams for Big Eyes.
• Best Supporting Roles- J.K. Simmons and Patricia Arquette for Whiplash and Boyhood
• In regards to television, Ruth Wilson, Kevin Spacey, Billy Bob Thorton, Maggie Cyllenhaal, Giana Rodriguez, and Jeffery Tambor went home victorious.
• Best Drama TV Series- The Affair
• Best Miniseries or TV Film- Fargo
• Best Musical or Comedy TV Series– Transparent 
• Best Original Song- John Legend and Common for Glory in Selma
• Golden Globe Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement-George Clooney

Some people went home empty handed, but that did not prevent them from enjoying themselves.  Between crying during the emotional speeches and laughing during Tina and Amy’s hilarious jokes, viewers were entertained throughout the whole show.  Even though it turned out that the air-conditioning was having issues throughout the event in the auditorium, the stars didn’t let the sweat keep them from looking great and making the Golden Globes an unforgettable night.
