On October 16, 2025, Pine Crest’s Banks Field was brimming with excitement as students and faculty filled the stands to watch the long-awaited flag football game. This beloved Homecoming tradition would not be the same without the amazing halftime dance competition, which is many students’ highlight of the game! The twist is that it is the boys who learn and perform a cheer routine for halftime, while the junior and senior girls are the ones playing “football.”
“It was overall very funny and enjoyable. I really appreciated how they put a lot of effort into their routines. You could tell how hard everyone worked, and it really paid off,” Teddy Schlesinger ‘28 said.
The boys were hard at work practicing weeks in advance, learning the routines.
“The girls did a great job in teaching us the dances and helping us in preparation. It definitely took a lot of practice, but in the end, I am very proud of how it turned out,” Brayden Myers ‘28, football player and halftime dancer, said.
The cheerleaders also spent a lot of time and effort preparing the boys for their big performance.
“I had a lot of fun when I was helping with choreography and teaching the boys the routine. I was so happy that I had gotten the chance to be involved and show my spirit,” Ryan Brodie ‘28, JV cheerleader, said.
Whether or not a student had the chance to participate in the actual game, it was still the perfect chance for everyone to join in the excitement of homecoming.
“While this year I did not get to participate in the game, I had so much fun showing my school spirit, and I cannot wait to play next year,” Sofia Hernandez ‘28 said.
As each grade cheered and chanted from the stands, the winners of both the game and halftime were the seniors! This exciting end was the perfect way to wrap up another day of fun homecoming activities.
