Homecoming week was packed with fun, energy, and plenty of friendly competition. One of the most creative events was the Door Decorating Contest, where advisories teamed up to design doors that showcased three key ideas: teamwork, creativity, and thoughtfulness.
The theme for this year’s advisory door decorating contest was “Favorite Children’s Book.” Each advisory had time in the week leading up to Homecoming to brainstorm ideas and choose a book to highlight. This corresponded to the dress-down day theme of “Jerseys and Jammies,” tying children’s reading time with pajama day.
Third place went to Mr. Herpers’ advisory, whose door was inspired by Dr. Seuss’ classic children’s book The Lorax.

“It was chosen because the handprint idea was very creative, allowing each member to participate,” said Mrs. Rashbaum, Dean of Student Life.
Second place was awarded to Dr. Edelman’s advisory, which centered around the theme ‘Hershey.’ This design was especially heartfelt, honoring Dr. Edelman’s new baby, Hershel, whose nickname is Hershey. Each student contributed baby photos of themselves to tie in with the theme.

First place went to Ms. Sarasua’s advisory, which transformed their door into a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory masterpiece.

“[Ms. Sarasua’s door decoration] showed a lot of effort and thoughtfulness, with each member contributing equally,” Mrs. Rashbaum said.
Finally, Dr. Nicholas received an honorable mention for tying in Panther Pride and school spirit through his creative design of If You Give a Panther a Cookie.

From Loraxes to chocolate factories, these doors weren’t just decorations; they were a celebration of Panther creativity!
