Jordan Faison, Pine Crest Class of 2023, is making waves in college football. The transition from high school to college as an athlete is a formidable challenge. For Faison, however, this journey has become a remarkable success story. Currently playing as a walk-on wide receiver for Notre Dame, Faison’s freshman year has been nothing short of incredible.
Faison’s success began with his debut on October 7th against Louisville. Though a freshman, he wasted no time making an impact and catching two passes for 48 yards. The highlight of the day came on a 36-yard touchdown reception, which spotlighted his amazing athletic ability, as he blew by his defender and was left wide-open for the score.
As the season progressed, Faison’s role at Notre Dame increased. He earned his first career start and carried his first career rushing attempt against USC on October 14th. Faison’s versatility and adaptability has made him a multidimensional threat on the field.
One of Faison’s standout moments occurred on November 18th against Wake Forest. Faison recorded four receptions and 39 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown. His performance contributed to the team’s victory and solidified his position as a key player in the Notre Dame offense.
Faison soon began making plays from all over the field. Against Pitt on October 28th, Faison made an impressive 20-yard punt return, and against Clemson on November 4th, he showcased his rushing ability with a six-yard run. The regularity with which Faison contributed to Notre Dame from multiple different positions as a true freshman highlights his reliability and skill on the field.
Lucas Azout ‘25 said, “Jordan is my inspiration, he motivates me every day.” He later followed with, “I dream to be as successful as he is.”
Faison’s recent performance in the Sun Bowl was particularly remarkable. His 5 receptions for 115 yards and 1 touchdown earned him the MVP of the game. The last time a true freshman won the MVP in a Sun Bowl was in 2019 by Heisman winner Jayden Daniels, which is a testament to Faison’s talent, hard work, and ability to perform under pressure.
Before his success for Notre Dame’s football program, Faison excelled in football, amassing 1,817 yards and scoring a remarkable 26 touchdowns, leading Pine Crest to the Regional Finals. He earned All-District honors as a quarterback and safety.
Carlos Soto ‘25 said “It’s insane that last year we played with him, and now we get to watch him on national television.”
Jordan Faison’s rise to success at Notre Dame is truly outstanding. From his high school dominance at Pine Crest to making his mark in the world of college football, Faison’s story is just beginning. Everyone is excited about his promising future. Whether that be on the lacrosse field, the football field, or both has yet to be answered.
