Show off your Panther Pride! PC students are very spirited when it comes to school-sponsored events, especially special times of the year such as homecoming. Students show their pride by attending fine arts performances, sporting events, and a variety of other events at our school.
For example, there are always large crowds at varsity volleyball games, especially at the Senior Night game. Also, many PC students are involved in the fine arts, such as band, orchestra, and chorus. The Pep Band always helps energize school spirit by playing at many of the home football games, including the annual homecoming game.
Not only are the students excited to show off their PC pride during homecoming, but also the teachers are pumped for this year’s festivities. Many teachers will be decorating the school with green and white banners and streamers to get the entire PC community ready for homecoming.
When asked about her favorite homecoming event, Ms. Alexanderson, the AP Psychology teacher and Student Council advisor, replied, “One of my favorite events each year during homecoming is the Playing for Change concert, but what I am most excited for is the football game: I love looking out into the crowd and seeing the entire Upper School smiling and excited about being a community.”
The current senior class, the Class of 2015, has won the Spirit Stick the past two years in a row, as sophomores and as juniors. Student Council President Brittany Paris is hoping that the Class of 2015 will go out on top by winning it for a third time in a row. She stated, “I am really excited about homecoming because of all of the exciting events planned, but most importantly because of how it brings each class together.”
Students can show their PC spirit by wearing their class colors on Thursday and green and white on Friday. Also, the PC Community is thrilled to come together by attending many different events during Homecoming, including the volleyball and football games.
It is noteworthy that over the past few years, the Pine Crest baseball team has led by example, supporting the entire sports program and showing outstanding spirit. Charlie Luciano, a junior on the varsity baseball team, stated, “It is really great seeing everyone come out to support each other during school sponsored events, like sports games. Participating in Homecoming is a great way to show our individual spirit but more importantly our spirit as a whole.”
Last year, homecoming was a huge success with most of the student body coming out to cheer on the football team and support the school. Everyone should come out and participate in all of the activities that are planned for this year’s homecoming.
