If you missed your chance to snag a golden ticket for one of fashion’s most exclusive events, or you have been itching to finally have a peek at this season’s new trends, then look out because Mercedes Benz Fall Fashion Week finally came to quench your thirst for the latest trends and hottest fashion straight from New York City.
Designers like Rebecca Minkoff, Tommy Hilfiger, Alexander Wang, and many more presented stunning and elaborately-produced runway shows for the upcoming 2015 spring and summer seasons. Celebrities, fashion bloggers, and reporters lined the front rows, waiting for a glimpse at this year’s new collections. This exclusive event took place from September 4th to the 11th and consisted of runway shows, collection presentations, concerts, designer parties, and much more.
Many new trends were seen all over the runway, including one of the hottest trends this season: knits and sweaters. All over the runways, models were seen sporting super chic and cozy sweaters. Whether it is a graphic style sweater with a fun saying on the front, or a knit skirt, or dress to create a sleek and stylish look, these pieces will make a statement and create a very fashion forward outfit.
Designers have decided to ditch the heels, by starting a stylish yet comfortable trend: sneakers. These are not just regular sneakers; they are extremely bold and colorful, including creative patterns and prints. Whether it is with a pair of boyfriend jeans and a white t-shirt or a cool skirt and blouse, these unique and trendy sneakers are the perfect fit for any outfit.

However, this year’s NYFW felt a major void. The fashion legend and red carpet icon, Joan Rivers, passed away on September 4th, 2014, the opening day of the NYFW. Known for reinventing the red carpet interview with her “who are you wearing?” question, Rivers truly was a fashion icon and a New York Fashion Week staple. Many of you may know her for her hilarious and sometimes offensive commentary on E!’s “Fashion Police”. Joan was the first to criticize and joke around about an oversized bow or an ill-fitting dress. She was a ball of life, even at the age of 81, and was adored by many. Although she sometimes crossed the line with her harsh remarks, everyone adored her for her exuberant personality and loving nature. This is an extremely unfortunate loss, but Joan’s fashion and comedic legacies will live on, and we will always be her “Joan Rangers.”
