Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the surplus of clubs offered here at the Pine? Don’t worry. We do, too. So we have compiled a list of all the officials clubs of PC for your disposal–read ahead for information on everything from Board Games Club to Young Bohemians’ Art Society.
Pine Crest Clubs
Asian Club Interested in Asian cultures? As a part of the diverse community of Pine Crest, Asian Club plays an active role in the display of global cultures. Come and participate in various activities such as preparing traditional Asian dishes and performing Asian dances. Black Students Association Another one of the various cultural groups on campus, the Black Students Association is open to all students. Come participate during Black History Month in a multitude of activities and in various community service-related events throughout the year. Board Games Club Is Scrabble your passion? How about Monopoly? Maybe even Clue? If this sounds like you, then Board Games Club the perfect club for you to join. Come be a part of meetings where there is always a game to be played, from Connect Four to Sorry! Business Club Are you interested in going to business school one day? Or own a company of your own? Then go and join Business Club! This club is a great way to expose yourself to business before college and get a taste of being an entrepreneur! Computer Science Club Love to code? Look no further than Computer Science Club, where you can hone in on your mad computer skills and compete in competitions against other comp sci people from around the nation. Creative Writing Club Are you a poet and don’t even know it? Come check out the Creative Writing Club to get your creative juices flowing. One of the best clubs on campus to eliminate your writer’s block, the Creative Writing Club has writing exercises available for you. Debate Club Rumor has it that Debate Club isn’t a club, it’s a varsity sport. Do you love to sound smart and impress your fellow peers? How about research, go on amazing trips, and make your opponents sound like 4th graders trying to learn biomolecular engineering? If you answered yes, then debate is for you. Drama Club Love to sing, act, or dance? Or maybe you prefer more of the behind-the-scenes action? Have no fear, Drama Club is here! Not only is Drama Club one of the Upper School’s largest collection of performers, but it is also an active participant in the annual Thespians competition, showcasing the variety of talents of PC performers. Easing the Teasing Club Don’t be a bystander! Use your voice and stand up for others as a member of Easing the Teasing. Easing the Teasing is one of the clubs on campus that actively works to end bullying in and around campus. Environmental Action Club Are you a “Going Green” type of person? The Environmental Action Club aims to get students involved in helping our school and the world around us! This club participates in activities such as beach cleanups, toy drives, and much more. eSports Club Are outdoor sports not really your thing? Maybe Madden ’15 is more your thing than trying out for the football team. Not to worry–eSports is just the club for you. If you are a video game aficionado, you definitely cannot miss eSports Club. Come participate in a multitude of tournaments, from Super Smash Bros. to FIFA ’15, all while earning community service hours. Fellowship of Christian Athletes Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose! The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is an interfaith club on campus that seeks to unite athletes through faith. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes meets every Tuesday to help Panther athletes become better teammates and to discuss their beliefs, on and off the field. Film Club Who doesn’t want to watch movies at school? Film Club is a group of students who organize movie screenings at the ICI for the sake of bringing classmates together and critiquing films. Screenings are usually after school on Fridays, and are open to the whole Pine Crest community. Fishing Club Fishing aficionados! Take advantage of living in South Florida! Join Fishing Club and learn how to fish or improve on your mad skills. French Club Parlez-vous français? Pas de problème! You do not have to speak French to be a member of French Club, led by Madame Pirson, one of the Upper School’s very own French teachers. As a member of French Club, you’ll spend your time appreciating and learning more, not only about the French language, but about French culture around the world. Gay-Straight Alliance Stand up! The Gay-Straight Alliance at PC is part of a national organization, created to empower youth to speak out against homophobia and transphobia. The GSA is above all an advocacy group for LGBTQ rights. Along with that, the GSA is a support group for students who may be feeling neglected, due to their sexual orientation. Geography Club Curious about the world around you? Then Geography Club is really for you! Come travel the world without ever really leaving Pine Crest. Geography Club hosts the annual Pine Crest Geography Bee, in addition to hosting mini bees during the year. Gourmet Club Ever feel hungry after school? Gourmet Club is a club that holds monthly meetings after school to cook various foods from around the world. Their foods vary from cupcakes to quesadillas to sushi and if you can dream it, they can make it. Gourmet Club also has cooking competitions planned for this year, so get your forks and knives ready, and get cooking! Hessed Forum Come celebrate your Jewish heritage at the Hessed Forum! This club observes all the traditional Jewish holidays on campus, and all are welcomed to celebrate with us! Hip-Hop Club Do you love to pop, lock, and drop it? Check out Hip-Hop Club, known for the best moves on campus. As a member of Hip-Hop Club, you will have the chance to learn some new moves, all while showcasing them during performances at the Homecoming Pep Rally, in addition to the annual Multicultural Festival. History Club Are you a proud history geek? Then join History Club! This club plans the official Pine Crest History Bee and actually goes out to eat meals of different cultures as well! Indian Heritage Club Jai ho! From bhangra to Bollywood, Indian Heritage Club has got it covered. Come participate in a variety activities, from Bollywood film screenings to learning all about the Indian culture, and even participating in the show-stealing bhangra performance during Multicultural Festival. International Relations Club Interested in debating current world affairs and bonding with your classmates on amazing trips to Harvard and NYC? Look no further than the International Relations Club, in charge of the Pine Crest delegation of the Harvard Model United Nations trip to Boston and the National High School Model United Nations trip to New York in the spring. Investing Club Interested in diversifying your portfolio? Or maybe you just want to play the stock market? Have no fear, Investing Club is here for all of your investing needs. Come build a profit and look for trends in the stock market as a member of Investing Club. Kiva Club Kiva Club is Pine Crest’s chapter of Kiva, a non-profit organization dedicated to microlending. Members of Kiva Club participate in various community service opportunities to raise money that is then donated to low-income entrepreneurs to help further their businesses in developing countries around the world. Math Club Math nerds unite! If you are amazing at math, and feel like showing off a little to your peers than join this club! Math Club is a great mix of math students from all grades of Upper School that compete in local math competitions, as well as organize the sacred day (Pi Day) in March. Mock Trial Future lawyers, this club is for you! This passionate club meets once, occasionally twice, a week and focuses on an annual competition in February, administered by the Florida Law Related Education Association. The Mock Trial team prepares for an actual case, including the defense and prosecution arguments, opening and closing statements, and cross examinations until the team has the entire trial “down pat.” In February, the team heads down to the Broward County Court House, where they compete against other schools around Broward County. The winning team has the chance to go onto a state competition, and then the national competition. Photography Club Smile! Photography Club is a group of people who meet up to learn, take pictures, and “model” for the pictures! This fun club is meant to be laid back and should not take up a lot of your time. It is a great way to make friends, learn new photography skills, and create memories! Pine Crest Community Fund Feel like helping people out and earning community service hours at the same time? PCCF has a plethora of opportunities available for its members, so make sure you sign up for this amazing and thoughtful club! This club is responsible for the Candy Cane and Rose sales throughout the year. It is a great way to get your community service completed right here on campus during your free periods or after school. At the end of the year, all the raised money goes directly to local charities in the area. Pre-Med Society Interested in pursuing a career in the medicine field but do not know where to learn about the profession? Look no further than Pre-Med Society! Every month, notable doctors from the area are invited to host an intimate lecture about their profession and their specific fields in medicine. As the Type One Letter from the Editors suggests, they welcome people interested in diabetes as well. Science Club Science wizzes, this club is meant for you. Science Club competes in various local science competitions, while having a blast! All scientists (chemists, biologists, physicists, environmental scientists, even engineers!) are welcome. Sign Language Club Interested in learning a new language? Then Sign Language Club is definitely for you! Students Against Destructive Decisions Students Against Destructive Decisions, or SADD, is an advocacy club on campus that campaigns to provide students with the best prevention tools to deal with underage drinking, drug use, impaired driving, and other harmful issues. Students for Organ Donation Awareness Students for Organ Donation Awareness, or SODA, is another advocacy club on campus that hopes to bring awareness to the importance of organ donation and registration. They hope to host more speakers this year to dispel common myths about organ donation and encourage more students to become active advocates for registration.
