Boys’ Soccer 2022-2023 Season Recap

2022-2023 Varsity Soccer Team

Pine Crest Soccer has had a historic season this year. The team’s hard work, discipline, and dedication have paid off, improving from seven to sixteen wins from the 2022 to 2023 seasons.

Early morning practices on Saturdays, consistent practices after school, and several games every week have helped the team significantly improve from last season. Their state ranking also shot up. Last season, the team finished 28th in Florida, while this year, they managed to end the season ranked 12th in the state.

The team played three games almost every week. Alexandra Azout ‘23 said, “I enjoyed watching the team grow and get better as the season went on.”

In the playoffs, Pine Crest beat Calvary Christian High School in district semifinals. Although they lost in the district finals, the team still managed to qualify for regional quarterfinals where they unfortunately lost to LaSalle High School.

With such a talented and united team, players and fans alike are sad to see the season end. Varsity player Phil Joos 25’ said, “Although I am very sad to say goodbye to all the seniors, I am excited for next season.”

While the team was primarily made up of seniors, skilled underclassmen are ready to assume more significant roles next year and continue the team’s success.
