The 2011 Y-100 Jingle Ball was a huge hit! Each singer added her own personal style to this unique lineup of performers. To start the show, teen sensation Demi Lovato, in her comeback to fame, sang her song “Skyscraper.”  As people filed into the Bank Atlantic Center, Lovato sang a selection of her many Billboard 100 hits. Amongst the hustle and bustle of audience members taking their seats, a new group called Karmin performed a cover of “Look At Me Now,originally sung by Chris Brown. They followed with an original song called “Crash Your Party,a pop song with good sound that in my opinion was ruined by some bad rapping. As the night rocked on, the band Foster the People pumped up the stadium. They got the whole crowd on their feet with their popular songs “Pumped Up Kicksand “Don’t Stop (Color on the Walls).” Following the band Foster the People, was teen heart throb Cody Simpson, singing and playing his acoustic guitar. He played many tunes from his album Coast to Coast including “Angel” and “Not Just You.” He was a huge hit among the girls in the audience.

After some sweet photo ops and a few chocolate chip cookies, our attention turned to the Gym Class Heroes. They brought tons of energy with their song “Stereo Hearts.”  The group also performed some of their
older hits including “Cupid’s Chokehold” from their album As Cruel As Children, released in 2006.

If the concert wasn’t amazing at that point, it exploded when Avril Lavigne hit the stage. She sang an assortment of different songs from her many albums, including “Sk8r Boi,” “Girlfriend,”and “Wish You Were Here.” With little time between the acts, we couldn’t leave our spots when the Script appeared on the stage. The Script, my personal favorite act of the night, sang all of their hits including “Nothing,” “For the First Time,” “Breakeven,” and “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved.” Lead singer Danny O’Donoghue really brought it to the stage that night! Following this amazing performance was Cobra Starship, singing their hit “Good Girls Gone Bad.” They also debuted their new song “Middle Finger,” which had some interesting lyrics. I was very impressed with the next performer, Kelly Clarkson, because she truly has an amazing voice. She sang a selection of her past hits including “Walk Away,” “Since U Been Gone,”and “My Life Would Suck Without You.”  She also sang her version of “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” A cappella (without accompaniment), a refreshing twist to a mostly pop concert. According to many different sources, Pitbull was supposed to follow Kelly Clarkson, but because of a minor incident (he could not find his lucky glasses), the final act, LMFAO, had to perform next. Their performance definitely seemed like a finale performance, with lights, confetti,
and plenty of “wiggling” and “shuffling.” Although SkyBlue was not able to make the show due to a back injury, LMFAO still managed to wow the crowd.

Our bathroom needs could finally be taken care of during DJ David Guetta’s act. He played many songs including “Nothing But The Beat” and “Where Them Girls At,” but in my opinion, was a bit short of capturing the audience’s attention due to the lengthiness of his performance. Y-100 Jingle Ball would not be complete without Florida’s own Flo Rida, 2010 Y-100 Jingle Ball’s finale act. He sang snip-it’s of “Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor)” and “Give Me Everything” from his newest album, as well as “Low” from his previous album.

Finally finding his lucky glasses, Pitbull took center stage for the finale of Jingle Ball. The crowd went wild over “Hotel Room Service.” Overall, I enjoyed Pitbull’s performance. I still believe that LMFAO would have brought more “oomph” to the finale, but Pitbull still managed to tie up the show with his energetic style. According to many viewers, this year’s lineup proved to be even better than last year’s, and I agree. The 2011 Y-100 Jingle Ball was a huge success. I can’t wait to see who will be there next year!
