Les Misérables Comes to Pine Crest!
It’s that time of year again! Pine Crest is gearing up for this year’s spring musical. This year’s production is Les Misérables, a musical based off of the famous book of the same name by Victor Hugo. Les Misérables follows the story of Jean Valjean, a man who was convicted for stealing a loaf of bread and then released from prison after nineteen years. The kindness of a bishop influences Valjean as he is able to find God and is motivated to become a better person. He eventually rises and becomes the mayor of Montreuil-sur-Mer and a factory owner. Unfortunately, he breaks his parole and Javert, a policeman, is after him. Fantine, one of Valjean’s workers, is about to die and Valjean promises to look after her daughter, Cosette. After, Valjean rescues Cosette from the greedy Thenardiers, where she had been staying. The show transitions nine years into the future, where Cosette is now a woman. The French Revolution arises and Cosette falls in love with a revolutionary, Marius. Cosette and Marius are caught up in the Revolution, along with Valjean, who is also caught up in his own past. The show will premier on Friday, March 23rd, with an additional show on Saturday, March 24th.
