Boys’ Soccer is Back

The Pine Crest Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team has high expectations this season after a tremendous run last year.  Coach Josh Feinberg marks his first year at the helm of the soccer program, so he and assistant coach Eric have been working the squad hard early.  With great preparation, tight chemistry, and high goals and expectations in sight, the boys hope to make a run far into the postseason this year.

Seniors Tim Baker, Alan Levy, Alec Neita, Adam Pisarris, Nick Bates and as well as goalkeepers Jordan Danzansky and Michael Pozzuoli look to lead the team this year by building on further chemistry and improving from where they left off last year.  With many key players and pieces to the Pine Crest formula returning from last season, the Panthers hope to have considerable success. Returning starters from last year include Jonathon Bell, Brandon Danzansky, Rahul Benda, Alex Britton, Marc Simpson, Eric Collazo, Matt Wagner, Mark Peitcher, and Dan Arkin.  New players, including Freshmen Jack Marchetto, Ryan Driscoll, Max Krieg, and Sophomore João Nunes also look to contribute to them team’s success.  All of the players have tremendous confidence in the team’s chances, specifically Joao Nunes who stated that, “there is a lot of potential to do big things.”

Although the boys have started out sluggishly with tough losses against University School and American Heritage, they are resilient and have learned from their mistakes.  They have started the season at 2-2, but they have come out with huge wins against Pompano Beach and Pope John II.  The team has many important matchups coming up in the near future, including key games versus rivals North Broward, American Heritage, and Saint Andrews.  Putting their first couple of losses aside, the team looks forward to future competitions where they can dominate the rest of the season.

While the soccer season is often referred to more as a marathon than a sprint, the boys are on pace to accomplish wonderful feats this year.  Everyone on the team is looking to improve as each game passes, and they hope to be a top-notch competitor by the post-season.  The Boys’ Varsity Soccer needs your encouragement, so come out and support your Panthers!
