This year’s ballet was Alice in Wonderland, a repeat of a show done many years ago when the Seniors were younger. There were shows for parents and all of Upper School on the nights of March 7th and 8th, and a preview show took place on Tuesday of that week for Lower School. The Pine Crest Ballet Department put on an amazing show both nights, showcasing their talents and adaptation of the fairytale.
The Dance Department worked very hard for months leading up to the performance, with rehearsals taking place during class time, after school, and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. Their rehearsals were strenuous, with the dancers doing warmups and then practicing the performance in pointe shoes for the next couple of hours. The performance was about 2 hours in length, and the hard work that the dancers put into this performance was beautifully displayed on stage.
“What I enjoyed most about the ballet this year was how much storytelling there was, and how unique it is compared to classical ballet,” said Isabel Moreno ’24.
The A cast, Natalia Moody ‘25 and Catherine Chappell ‘25, who played Alice and the Queen of Hearts, respectively, performed on Friday. The B cast, consisting of Isabel Moreno ‘26, who also played Alice, and Olivia Berry ‘25, who played the Queen of Hearts, performed on Saturday.

This performance was the last for the senior class of 2025, and they ended their fabulous performance with many festivities. There were senior speeches and senior gifts in the Palmer Dance Studio. A fun ritual every senior class does at the end of their dance season is to come together and buy their teacher a gift. The senior class loves this tradition, and they had an incredible season!
Moreno said, “The beauty of doing a ballet like this one is how much fun it is as a show for the audience and the dancer. I was very fortunate to be able to use my acting skills to deliver the performance.” The visible passion and excitement of the dancers, the enthusiasm of the audience, and the beautiful costumes and stage sets were reflective of the wonderful performance that Pine Crest produced!
