Greased Up for the High School Musical
This year’s annual high school musical, on November 11th and 12th, was Grease, a well-known musical that tells the love story of teens Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson.
“Senior year is so busy but the musical was just so much fun I had to do it,” said Chloe Elderkin ’23, who played Sandy in this year’s production.
Chloe began performing in first grade with her first musical and is still on the stage 11 years later. Although Grease was her final Pine Crest musical, Chloe is looking forward to what’s to come for the PC Fine Arts Department.
“There are a lot of freshmen, and they’re all super energetic and excited. After this year is over and the seniors all leave, there are definitely going to be some good musicals in the future,” said Chloe.
The underclassmen were just as excited to put on the show.
“It was super fun! I loved getting to dance and sing and be part of some super fun scenes,” said Karen Awaida ’25, who played the role of a Pink Lady.
In addition to cast rehearsals, the live orchestra practiced hard as well.
“I was so excited to be able to support my friends in the musical from the pit. It was a really great experience,” said Danielle Berger ’23, a violinist.
Pine Crest students, families, and faculty watched Grease on November 11th and 12th in Stacy Auditorium and can look forward to another amazing show next year. Rehearsals for the spring play, Clue, have recently begun. Clue is directed by Dr. Whitted and will premiere on March 23rd.
