Migrant Caravan, General Motors, and the Mars Lander

Thousands of migrants have traveled together in a caravan to seek asylum in the United States.  Most of them are from Honduras and are now staying in a small Mexican town called Tijuana.  There is a large risk of infection spreading through the migrant community, but if the refugees attempt to cross, they will be promptly arrested by the US border patrol.

CEO Mary Barra of General Motors released plans last week for the largest cuts in workforce and shutdowns of plants in nearly a decade. 15 percent of 54,000 dollar salary jobs were cut in an effort to shift workers towards more software-oriented skills. GM wants to proactively begin a shift toward creating automotive and electric cars in the future.

The Mars InSight Lander touched down last week.  It is in great condition and has even earned a record for power generation on Mars.  The Lander uses solar power and will hopefully allow scientists to learn more information about the planet’s core.  So far, this mission has been a success.
