PC boys soccer players wait on the sidelines, getting ready for a big game.

After an impressive 11-4-3 regular season, the Boys Varsity Soccer team advanced to a playoff game versus Calvary Christian Academy on Monday, January 29. After defeating CCA on Monday, the boys moved on to the District Semifinal to play North Broward Preparatory School on Tuesday, January 30. Unfortunately, the boys season ended the next day when they lost 3-0 to the 16-3 North Broward Prep Eagles.

Senior Ben Schwartz reflects on the season and tells Type One about one of his favorite moments saying, “my first favorite moment was our game against Cardinal Gibbons. They are our biggest rival and there was a lot of hype going into the game. We outplayed and outclassed them throughout the entire 80 minutes of a 3-1 victory. My goal that increased the lead to 2-0 was one of the craziest moments of my soccer career and one I’ll never forget.”

Some of the Panthers highlights this season included beating their rival Cardinal Gibbons, and crushing Sagemont 8-0 in their last home game of the regular season.

The team lost more than ten seniors last year, but they found a way to come together.  Schwartz further discussed the wholistic team effort saying,  “I think that overall we had an amazing season… we came together as a brotherhood and rallied around the new PCFC culture that we started. We played very well throughout the season and especially in our district games. We went into the district tournament as the 3 seed and defeated CCA 2-0 before we lost 3-0 to NBP. Overall, I’m so proud of our whole team for the effort and culture everyone contributed to throughout the season.”

All in all, the Panthers Varsity Soccer Team dominated the field and impressed all as they won 11 of their 18 games, including 7 of their first 10 and advanced to Districts. Congratulations on an amazing season and great job boys soccer.
