Letter to the Editor–AJ and Brett Haeffner
We are happy to be back at Pine Crest. It feels good to be home again.
Everyone knew that this game was going to be epic. From the tip-off to the overtime buzzer it was a battle! If there was a loose ball, someone was diving on the floor. When the other team drove to the basket, either Miles Polley or Brian Anderson were taking charges. Freshman Alex Vertus hit some huge shots. Scotty Pippen made clutch plays down the stretch. And Chris Marzouca orchestrated a masterly performance. Every time someone stepped onto the court, he gave it his all. The chanting and cheering from the student section was raucous and witty. We will never forget when the student section rushed the court. What memories.
The outcome of this game could have turned on any number of plays. Thankfully, we came out on top. Winning a rivalry game is always fun. Winning against your former team is even sweeter. Saint Andrew’s deserves a lot of credit. They have very talented players and they play hard. We know these guys well. To a man, they are all good guys and we respect each of them.
What was most enjoyable for us about beating Saint Andrew’s was how we played as a team. Since the start of the season we have felt that this team has been building up to something special. This team is realizing what it can accomplish. We play together like no other team and we give it our all. We trust one another and we believe in our coaches. Everyone on this team cares about each other and we are having so much fun together.
This was more than a special moment for the two of us. It was a special moment for our teammates. It was a special moment for Pine Crest.
We are proud to be Pine Crest Panthers!
