Carter IV Album Review
August 29th, Lil Wayne released his highly anticipated album Carter IV. After all the hype, many Wayne lovers were disappointed in the rapper. There were countless reviews dissing the rapper as well as his fellow artists featured in the album. As a Wayne lover myself, I can agree with many fans that “the old Wayne was better.” There are a few songs that have been hits from the album, such as “How to Love” and “John.” A personal favorite of mine is “Interlude” featuring Tech N9ne. As many people would say, the Carter IV was a flop. Critics from PopMatters said it was “most likely the greatest disappointment,” and Entertainment Weekly claimed it was “a collection of hits and misses.” However, Rolling Stone stated “it’s thrilling how unhinged Weezy sounds… even the failed moments sound like nobody else” (which of course is true). Lil Wayne is truly a unique artist and even though this album was not his greatest, we can be sure that there will be more to come.
